Training Requirements

In order to train with us, you must agree to the Guidelines of the Bujinkan, found here. Please do not come to training if you cannot agree to these rules.

We train in a very safe and careful way in order to avoid injury, but we do recommend purchasing training insurance if you want to train regularly. This costs approximately £15 per year. We are not affiliated with any insurance company. If you need any advice, please ask in class and we can tell you who we bought our own insurance from.

You must always train in exactly the way that the teacher tells you to - this  is a martial art, not a sport, there are no rules and the techniques we study are dangerous by design, so they must be studied carefully. You must always respect the health and safety of your training partner, as they will respect yours. Part of training is pushing you gradually beyond your established limits, but you will never be asked to do something you honestly feel is beyond you in this class.

In addition, by participating in training at this dojo, you agree that you are of sound mind and body and physically resilient enough to participate in a normal way. You understand that progression will involve some hardship, and you accept that as a part of the process. If you are in any doubt as to the state of your health, you must consult a physician before starting training. You must also inform the instructor of any prior injuries or other health problems you have that may impact your training.

Training will always be conducted with maximum care - the teacher's absolute priority is the safety of the students. In return, you agree to take responsibility for keeping your own insurance up to date, and you assume complete responsibility for all risk and all consequences of your training both negative and positive.

By viewing or participating in a class at this dojo, you agree that the techniques and ideas presented in the training are to be used to protect your safety or the safety of another, and are to be employed with the maximum possible care and compassion for all life, including the life of an attacker.
